Day 58

Close the Month With 50% Day!

The month closed down as I scored with two more winners and a profit again! Wire Funds was either going to be much the best in the 2nd, a turf sprint, or he was definitely on a downward form cycle. I thought he'd bounce back.....nope. Pressed the pace and faded to fourth. But then I came back to score in back-to-back races. In the 3rd It's My Business was 2-for-2 at the super sprint distance of 5 1/2 furlongs and looked to sit just off the lead as two runners dueled on the front end. It played out just as I'd seen it.

She was a healthy 2/1 on the board and paid $6.40, allowing me to cash for over $30. My next bet wasn't until the 7th where I thought it was hard not to like the filly on the rail, Hard Not To Like! She had won the Grade 3 Marshua's River here at this distance off a layoff last season; had run her two best figures here; was exiting TEN straight graded efforts; and had bullet works for trainer Michael Maker. Jockey John Velazquez sat patiently on the rail until heads turned for home, found a seam and it was all over! A near-miss second when wide off the final turn in the last race of the month......but it was another profitable day with a really nice 50% win average on this Friday afternoon!

One month to go in the Championship Meet, but it's the biggest month of the year with the signature day of the meet, Florida Derby Day just four weeks away. We have 34 people in our party this year, an all-time high. It's going to be a great finish to a great winter!
