Day 25

Two WINS to Close Out The Week

When I handicapped the Sunday card I was surprised that I kept finding one horse after another that I felt gave me a solid edge to win. Typically I have found that four out of eleven is about what I find on a weekday or Sunday card, but I had EIGHT today. About two-thirds of the way through the card I even went back and re-read my comments to make sure I wasn't forcing the issue.....but no, I felt pretty good about them all. In the end I SHOULD have had four wins from the eight races, but ended up with just two. Hey, who can complain after the big Saturday I had!

The first bet found me doubling the bet on a 2/5 obvious favorite. He coasted to the turn before confronted and PASSED by my second choice at 8/1. They dueled to the wire and it was a PHOTO finish.....I really thought on every slow motion replay that I had it.....lost by the narrowest of noses. In my next race I had the winner - but no bet! In the 4th I had listed Nora in the Sky as my top bet as she qualified on two different GP 40% Club angles for Peter Walder. But then I analyzed Arissa and the similarities to Friday's longshot winner, Red Brunette were striking....same trainer/jockey and very similar history, so I switched my pick.....yes, Nora won. WOW. In the fifth Renards Lapin was the consensus choice for Todd Pletcher....fifth at even money.  FINALLY a winner when Pletcher's sophomore MSW colt, In Tune wired the field. At the top of the lane he did NOT spurt away like most of Pletcher's sophomores and had to fight gamely to the wire, but it was the first winner of the day.

Missed with a Ramsey-Maker runner and then again on the turf before scoring with Courtney Ryan in the 10th and featured. I thought she stood out like a sore thumb, but it was a ding-dong battle the length of the stretch before she prevailed. It was my "best" of the day and provided me with enough winnings to make it a "minimim loss" day.

In the last race I went against the Ramsey-Maker runner, and of course I had the wrong runner listed on top of the two I'd singled out. Still, a great week overall.
